Toshiba 7 Year Warranty & updated Rewards scheme

February 15th, 2016

Toshiba Air Conditioning have reworked their warranty scheme so once again set new standards in the industry.

Traditionally, manufacturers award warranty term based on the annual spend of the contractor or end user.  Rather than take this commercial view, Toshiba has now linked their warranty term not to turnover, but to workmanship.

Toshiba T7 Enhanced Warranty

The standard off the shelf warranty for Toshiba Air Conditioning is now the T5, 5 years parts & labour allowance (no minimum spend).  Then by completing a set 3 training courses at any of our hands on training locations Glasgow, Sunderland or Warrington plus Toshiba’s own Leatherhead facility, this warranty is lifted up to T7 – 7 years, again with no minimum spend.

This means now that all contractors, no matter the business size, can benefit from a 7 year warranty.

The top tier in the scheme is the T7e, 7 Year Enhanced Warranty.  By completing the training & submitting commissioning and maintenance data, the warranty is 7 years but with an enhanced labour allowance.  Contact Cool Designs for further detail or see our library documents section (general info drop down) for more information.

Following on from this, Toshiba have updated their rewards scheme.  The additions scheme has now ended and is replaced with the updated Toshiba Rewards Scheme.

Toshiba win ACR Product of the Year

February 2nd, 2016

Toshiba has been awarded the National ACR Product of the Year for the new SMMS-e VRF System.

Toshiba SMMSe

Toshiba SMMSe

Developments in three core technologies – the compressor, heat exchanger and advanced intelligent control – combine to ensure all outdoor units in the new SMMS-E VRF range have an ESEER (European Seasonally Adjusted Energy Efficiency Rating} higher than 7, an industry first.

Wear surfaces on compression vanes are treated with a high-tech Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating, giving outstanding hardness, wear resistance and reliability. This enables significant increase in compressor rotation speed, resulting in a higher displacement volume. Up to 50 per cent great than previous generations.

The heat exchanger has been completely redesigned, which results in a 13 percent increase in surface area available for heat transfer. It provides continuous heating with no requirement to stop during defrost. This is made possible by the use of a new hot-gas bypass control.

A new approach to intelligent operation gives occupants improved comfort, energy efficiency an reliability by using the independent Pulse Motor Valves (PMV’s) to control the flow of refrigerant to each indoor unit.

Wireless commissioning allows performance data and status reports to be automatically emailed to end users or engineers.  Pipe work and connectivity has been increased,  giving double the previous allowable length.

Finally,as a result of the new compressors design and improved system controls, the operating temperature range has been significantly extended, and is now -5 to 46°C for cooling operation and -25 °C in heating mode.

The new Toshiba SMMS-e VRF is now available from Cool Designs Ltd

October 23rd, 2015

Organised by leading law firm Ward Hadaway and backed by The Journal, the Fastest 50 list highlights and celebrates the achievements of the profitable, privately-owned companies in the region which have grown their turnover by the largest amount in recent years.

This year’s Ward Hadaway Fastest 50 contained businesses from a wide range of sectors from manufacturing and engineering to e-commerce, commercial development to travel and hospitality.

Colin Hewitt, partner and head of commercial at Ward Hadaway, said: “Once again, the Ward Hadaway Fastest 50 has delivered a fascinating insight into the breadth and range of companies which are succeeding in growing their businesses.

“The sheer variety of companies represented in the list demonstrates the continuing strength and vibrancy of the region’s business world and provides further fuel to the North East’s key role in the Northern Powerhouse agenda.

“In this list are 50 reasons to feel optimistic about the future of the North East economy and its importance to the UK and to global markets.

“All the businesses listed here are forging ahead and seeing their turnover grow whilst remaining profitable – they are real trailblazers who deserve our support, encouragement and our applause.”

The first time that Cool Designs Ltd has appeared on the list since its inception, overall appeared in 32nd place across all businesses and 11th medium sized business.

“It’s testament to the hard work we have put in over the years, through difficult trading conditions we never lost sight of our core values.  We’ve constantly and effectively striven to find innovative ways to share information with our client base while growing responsibly as a carbon neutral company”.

Toshiba offers ECA Help

July 27th, 2015

Toshiba has introduced an app to help installers and consultants secure investment relief through enhanced capital allowances.

The app contains key data on Toshiba products that meet the Energy Technology List efficiency criteria for air-source single split and multi-split heat pumps, and air source split or multi-split VRF heat pumps.

Split into three categories, it reflects the cooling capacity bandings used by the EU air conditioning efficiency directives: Lot 10, split or multi-splits smaller than or equal to 12kW; Lot 6, split or multi-splits greater than 12kW; and VRV Lot 6, VRF systems greater than 12kW.

Designers are guided through a series of six simple steps, resulting in the creation of a formally-recognised ECA statement of eligibility. This can then be used to validate compliance as part of an ECA submission for a project.

While fully supporting the ECA scheme, David Dunn, general manager of Toshiba Air Conditioning, said: “There has been some criticism, however, that the scheme is quite complex and bureaucratic, and risks putting people off applying for ECA support. Our new tool is designed to streamline the whole process of producing the supporting paperwork. We believe that once installers and consultants try it and see how easy it is to use, it will become a regular part of their project preparation.”

The ECA tool is part of a growing library of online project support and business tools being developed by Toshiba to help designers, installers and consultants streamline their workflow and improve their service to clients. Other online tools include apps for calculating Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER) and Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP).

Once users have registered on Toshiba’s website, the ECA tool can be downloaded at www.toshiba-aircon.co.uk/support/eca-compliance or contact Cool Designs Ltd for support.

Focus on: Fujitsu J-IIS Mini VRF (2-Pipe)

July 16th, 2015

It’s easy for this little diamond to go under the radar,  given it has a height of less than 1M.  The Fujitsu Air Conditioning J-IIS Mini VRF is becoming a very popular option for applications where space is restricted or the height of the condensing unit it paramount.
