Support Crisis this Christmas

November 13th, 2017

It’s quickly came upon us and as we sat shivering in our cars this morning it was a stark reminder of those that don’t have such luxuries.  Over recent years Cool Designs have supported the homeless charity, Crisis by acting as a drop off point for donations as well as arranging our own donations and collections for them.

Again this year we are offering the same and you can drop any donations in to a Cool Designs branch or give to any member of staff.  Our final day for collection is Monday 18th December and after that we will transport all items across to Crisis in Newcastle.

Toshiba Launch SHRMe Heat Recovery VRF

April 5th, 2017

SHRMe/SMMSe Condensing Unit

The new three-pipe Super Heat Recovery Multi SHRM-e VRF delivers world-class energy efficiency performance and puts the emphasis on evolution driving excellence in energy savings, expansion in capacity line up and enhancement in applications. Together, they offer professionals and users faster design, installation and commissioning, outstanding seasonal efficiency at lower operation cost, and superior air comfort with enhanced quality and reliability.

This next series introduces new flow boxes that can be installed up to 50m away from the indoor unit as well as multi-flow boxes that can accommodate 4 or 6 indoor units.

One of the biggest features of the SHRMe  are the increased efficiency and low running costs with all models having an ESEER over 7.0 and some over 8.0.

The Toshiba SHRMe has a reduced footprint with a single module up to 20HP and additionally offers allows continuous heating, even during external defrost operations, thanks to the new hot gas bypass control. Indoor units will now operate continually, with only a minimal reduction in capacity output. This results in an uninterrupted flow of warm air, ensuring maximum comfort to the user.

The Toshiba SHRMe is available now from Cool Designs Ltd.

January Price Adjustment

December 12th, 2016

Toshiba announce price increase from 3rd January 2017.

We’re aware that the cost base for importing goods into the UK has significantly increased due to the weakening of sterling against other currencies such as the US Dollar and the Euro.

This has given many manufacturers no other option than to increase their retail prices.  Toshiba have announced a 5% increase across all products as of January 3rd.

The implementation of the increase is as follows:

  • All new orders received from January 3rd will be at the new prices
  • All orders placed before January 3rd and shipped before 31st March 2017 will be at the current prices
  • All orders placed before January 3rd and shipped after 31st March 2017 will be at the new 2017 prices

Any customers working on projects that may span these dates are encouraged to discuss with Cool Designs so that we can plan for them and put arrangements in place.

These price changes along with the changes from other manufacturers still position Toshiba very favourably and more so when quality, enhanced warranty, efficiencies and the rewards program are taken in to account.

We will soon be issuing a temporary price guide while our price list is updated to reflect these changes and new products coming in.

Toshiba excel in rethinking VRF efficiency

September 29th, 2016

Toshiba Air Conditioning SMMSe Heat Pump VRF has won its third award, this time the RAC Cooling Award 2016 for “Air Conditioning Innovation of the Year”.

Judges felt Toshiba had excelled in rethinking what makes an efficient VRF system.  Rather than tweaking components, Toshiba overhauled the whole design, resulting in a package of innovations which allow it to achieve ESEERs of over 7 across the whole range.

These innovations include a new two stage rotary compressor, with 50 percent higher displacement than conventional models, redesign of the heat exchanger to provide 13 percent greater capacity and the ability to select part capacity where outdoor temperatures are lower and the need for cooling is less.

Toshiba is also proud of its “true continuous heating” during defrost, using hot gas bypass to defrost the outdoor coils while the indoor is still operating in heating mode.

Coming in the next few months is the launch of the SHRMe heat recovery that furthers the technology of the SMMSe heat pump and is already attracting attention for its flexibility, footprint and efficiency.

Euro-star

July 15th, 2016

Cool Designs Ltd competition winner.

Another Euro tournament ends.  Some good effort from some of the home nations (hello Wales!) and not so much from others (blighty!).  However, all wasn’t lost.  Pictured below Steve McLean of Acrol Air Conditioning who won first prize in our Euro prediction competition, being presented with an iPad by Chris Oldroyd of Cool Designs.

Well done Steve.  Nice to see someone different win (yes Kern, we’re all looking at you).

We will likely run another competition for the new season though being (majority) Newcastle fans, need to decide what division we are doing it in!
