January Price Adjustment

December 12th, 2016

Toshiba announce price increase from 3rd January 2017.

We’re aware that the cost base for importing goods into the UK has significantly increased due to the weakening of sterling against other currencies such as the US Dollar and the Euro.

This has given many manufacturers no other option than to increase their retail prices.  Toshiba have announced a 5% increase across all products as of January 3rd.

The implementation of the increase is as follows:

  • All new orders received from January 3rd will be at the new prices
  • All orders placed before January 3rd and shipped before 31st March 2017 will be at the current prices
  • All orders placed before January 3rd and shipped after 31st March 2017 will be at the new 2017 prices

Any customers working on projects that may span these dates are encouraged to discuss with Cool Designs so that we can plan for them and put arrangements in place.

These price changes along with the changes from other manufacturers still position Toshiba very favourably and more so when quality, enhanced warranty, efficiencies and the rewards program are taken in to account.

We will soon be issuing a temporary price guide while our price list is updated to reflect these changes and new products coming in.

Toshiba excel in rethinking VRF efficiency

September 29th, 2016

Toshiba Air Conditioning SMMSe Heat Pump VRF has won its third award, this time the RAC Cooling Award 2016 for “Air Conditioning Innovation of the Year”.

Judges felt Toshiba had excelled in rethinking what makes an efficient VRF system.  Rather than tweaking components, Toshiba overhauled the whole design, resulting in a package of innovations which allow it to achieve ESEERs of over 7 across the whole range.

These innovations include a new two stage rotary compressor, with 50 percent higher displacement than conventional models, redesign of the heat exchanger to provide 13 percent greater capacity and the ability to select part capacity where outdoor temperatures are lower and the need for cooling is less.

Toshiba is also proud of its “true continuous heating” during defrost, using hot gas bypass to defrost the outdoor coils while the indoor is still operating in heating mode.

Coming in the next few months is the launch of the SHRMe heat recovery that furthers the technology of the SMMSe heat pump and is already attracting attention for its flexibility, footprint and efficiency.

Euro-star

July 15th, 2016

Cool Designs Ltd competition winner.

Another Euro tournament ends.  Some good effort from some of the home nations (hello Wales!) and not so much from others (blighty!).  However, all wasn’t lost.  Pictured below Steve McLean of Acrol Air Conditioning who won first prize in our Euro prediction competition, being presented with an iPad by Chris Oldroyd of Cool Designs.

Well done Steve.  Nice to see someone different win (yes Kern, we’re all looking at you).

We will likely run another competition for the new season though being (majority) Newcastle fans, need to decide what division we are doing it in!

Leading manufacturers with price decreases

June 13th, 2016

Moving through 2016 has saw price decreases on our major partners with both Fujitsu and Panasonic announcing price decreases.  The most recent of these which grabbed the headlines was Toshiba which announced significant price decreases following continuing business efficiency improvements and economies of scale due to growth.

Toshiba SMMSe

Toshiba SMMSe

The reductions of up to 16 per cent came in to effect this month (June) and are part of Toshiba’s strategic goal of doubling air conditioning sales by 2020. The new pricing applies to some of Toshiba’s most popular ranges of splits and VRF air conditioning equipment. The highlights of the new pricing structure include: Toshiba RAS systems reduced by up to 16%; digital Inverter split systems reduced by up to 12%; three-phase Super Digital inverter outdoor units reduced by as much as 14%. In addition, the company’s multi-award winning VRF systems benefit under the new approach, while associated products – such as some air-to-air heat exchangers – receive a nine per cent reduction. The company announced its 2020 growth strategy last year and is supporting the initiative with the introduction of new products, increased stocking levels, new appointments, a major expansion in production capacity, enhancement of warranty terms for trained contractors and a global push on training.

Toshiba is dramatically increasing stocking capacity at its Plymouth facility with a further 44,000sq ft of racking space, ensuring immediate product availability across its most popular ranges. The is giving a substantial back-up to our own increasing stock levels as we push our held stock of Toshiba product over £1M.  We have taken this step to further the availability of product across our regions and continue to allow our fast and flexible service.

Contact Cool Designs to ensure you are up to date with all of the latest prices.

Panasonic Guide to R32

April 29th, 2016

Panasonic introduces R32, the new refrigerant reducing global warming impact.

R-32 (Difluoromethane or HFC-32), is based on methane, except that two of the four hydrogen atoms have been replaced by fluorine atoms. Hence the formula is CH2F2 instead of CH4 for normal methane.

R32 products have been introduced in to our product portfolio by both Panasonic and Toshiba Air Conditioning in both of their wall mount ranges.

Please contact CDL for further information.

Training Update

February 25th, 2016

High demand leads to additional training days

We have updated our training schedule (brochure found here) due to an increase in training demand this year.

With the introduction of the new Toshiba Warranty in 2016 and the ease in which contractors can benefit from a 7 year warranty, we have added additional dates and venues.  The updated schedule can be found within the training brochure found in the link above.

As a reminder, training with Cool Designs is free of charge with refreshments provided on the day.  They are held at our hands on Glasgow, Sunderland and Warrington offices and can also be held at the Toshiba offices in Leatherhead (for Toshiba training) and Fujitsu offices (for Fujitsu training).

Toshiba 7 Year Warranty & updated Rewards scheme

February 15th, 2016

Toshiba Air Conditioning have reworked their warranty scheme so once again set new standards in the industry.

Traditionally, manufacturers award warranty term based on the annual spend of the contractor or end user.  Rather than take this commercial view, Toshiba has now linked their warranty term not to turnover, but to workmanship.

Toshiba T7 Enhanced Warranty

The standard off the shelf warranty for Toshiba Air Conditioning is now the T5, 5 years parts & labour allowance (no minimum spend).  Then by completing a set 3 training courses at any of our hands on training locations Glasgow, Sunderland or Warrington plus Toshiba’s own Leatherhead facility, this warranty is lifted up to T7 – 7 years, again with no minimum spend.

This means now that all contractors, no matter the business size, can benefit from a 7 year warranty.

The top tier in the scheme is the T7e, 7 Year Enhanced Warranty.  By completing the training & submitting commissioning and maintenance data, the warranty is 7 years but with an enhanced labour allowance.  Contact Cool Designs for further detail or see our library documents section (general info drop down) for more information.

Following on from this, Toshiba have updated their rewards scheme.  The additions scheme has now ended and is replaced with the updated Toshiba Rewards Scheme.

REWARDS_small

Register for the new scheme and accrue points on all Toshiba Purchases from Cool Designs (conditions apply).  These points can then be redeemed for Toshiba products, on site tools, Love2shop cards and travel vouchers or marketing activity.  See our website library for more information.
